The Diary of Anne Frank Comic Strip By Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett
Paragraph One:
I choose this scene over other scenes because to me, this particular scene has a lot of meaning behind it and tells us many things about the Frank parents, Mrs. Frank especially. For one thing, the arguements often bring out the worst in people and for once we can see Mrs. Frank's "aggressive" side and not just her motherly side. This scene also tells us how Mrs. Frank is like as well. From this one scene, we can infer that Mrs. Frank generally did not get mad but if something did bother her she would just keep it bottled inside her. Apparently, this event realeased all that anger that was stored inside for who knows how long. Mrs. Frank's "aggressive" side also bring me to the point of the Anne's phrase of people are really good at heart. It shows us the also she has good intentions when she wanted to kick them out, even though kicking them out was not the proper way to handle things. The arguement also shows us that Mr. Frank is a generally calm man and is able to think rationally in the face of fire. Furthermore, the phrase "We don't need the Nazis to destroy us. We're destroying ourselves." is another fact that Mr. Frank clearly hasn't lost his mind like the rest and actually realizes what's happening. This scene tells us that Mr. Frank is truly a calm person and also tells us different side of Mrs. Frank.
Paragraph Two:
The dialogue I choose was used to show my interpretation of the scene. Each word that I used was valuable in trying to tell my interpretation. What I tried to do was make all 5 boxes lead to the dramatic 6th box of Mr. Frank's phrase. I also wanted the first two boxes to create a small dramatic 3rd box of Mrs. Frank saying the phrase " He steals once! He'll steal again!" Well, the pictures are pretty straightforward. Scene one is Mrs. Frank telling them to get out and Mr. Frank trying to be reasonable with the addition of Mr. Van Daan's nervous face. The second one is Mr. Frank asking if it will ever happen again and Mr. Van Daan saying it won't. The third is Mrs. Frank screaming, " He steals once! He'll steal again.". Scene four is Mrs. Van Daan trying to persuade Mr. Frank to let them say because Mr. Van Daan helped him when he first came to Amsterdam and Mrs. Frank retaliates by saying if Mr. Frank owed anything to them, he already paid it by letting them live with them. Scene five is Mr. Frank telling Mrs. Frank that he never saw her like this before and Mrs. Frank replying that she should spoken out a long time ago. The last and sixth scene is Mr. Frank with a serious look saying "We don't need the Nazis to destroy us. We're destroying ourselves.". So, to sum it all up, the dialogu was chosen to show my interpretation of the scene and the images are pretty much the adults arguing.
